Pet Vaccinations: Protecting Against Serious Diseases 

Dogs: 

Canine Distemper-Adenovirus Type 2- Parainfluenza-Parvovirus ○ Distemper – severe gastrointestinal and neurological disease 

○ Adenovirus Type 2 (CAV-2) – respiratory infection with cross-protection for Hepatitis - liver, kidney, lung infection (CAV-1) 

○ Parvovirus – severe GI illness, potentially fatal 

● Bordetella - kennel cough 

● Rabies – fatal CNS disease, transmissible to humans 

● Leptospirosis – liver/kidney disease; zoonotic 

Cats: 

● Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia Vaccine 

○ Panleukopenia – severe GI illness, high fever, similar to parvovirus in puppies

○ Rhinotracheitis (FVR) – respiratory infection
